Mettekoven – red hiking route

A hike from Mettekoven to Veulen and back. The route between these two charming villages in Heers promises some tough climbs, distant views and blossoms in spring. The first challenging climb beckons right away in nature reserve De Knoppel, managed by Natuurpunt. But don’t forget to look around you, as you will find one of the largest standard orchards here. 

In Veulen, take a short detour through the village centre where the church and castle are the cultural highlights. For the rest, the serene atmosphere of the village is particularly striking. On the way back, you take a long hike right across the vast arable landscape.
